On Monday, July 31, 2023, Resident Bola Tinubu, the President, is scheduled to address the nation at 7:00 p.m. This announcement was made by his spokesperson, Dele Alake, in a statement released on Sunday. The broadcast will be accessible through various media outlets such as television, radio stations, and other electronic media, using the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria’s network services.

Facing challenges like the recent hike in petrol prices due to fuel subsidy removal, the depreciation of the naira, and an impending nationwide NLC protest, President Tinubu has a daunting task ahead to demonstrate his preparedness and competence in governing Africa’s most populous nation. Additionally, the upcoming nationwide NLC protest on August 2 is expected to disrupt commercial and social activities across the country.

Moreover, as the head of the ECOWAS regional bloc, President Tinubu is involved in resolving the political impasse in neighboring Niger Republic and restoring democracy amidst a coup d’etat. His foreign policy decisions are also being closely examined, particularly regarding ECOWAS’ potential military response to the situation in Niger.

Together with other West African leaders, President Tinubu signed an ultimatum directed at Niger’s coup plotters.
