On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu, alongside other leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), convened in Abuja to discuss the political situation in Niger Republic. The purpose of the meeting is to determine the subsequent steps to be taken following proposals directed at the military junta in Niger, aiming to reinstate democratic governance in the nation. As the ECOWAS chair, Tinubu hosted the gathering at the State House. An earlier notable resolution by ECOWAS leaders included a potential military intervention against the coup in Niger if the junta didn’t comply with a seven-day ultimatum to restore President Mohamed Bazoum
