Governor Alex Otti has reaffirmed his dedication to advancing Abia into the envisioned state. Specifically, Kenneth Kalu, the secretary to the state government, reiterated Otti’s administration’s commitment to establishing a conducive atmosphere for both individuals and businesses to prosper.

Speaking in Umuahia, while addressing journalists regarding the plans for the upcoming 2023 Abia Day celebration on August 27, Kalu emphasized that the government of Abia is resolute in its ambition “to transform Abia into the state we have always envisioned.”

Kalu elaborated that the primary goals of the Abia government include ensuring well-maintained roads, motivated and appreciated teachers, fully operational general hospitals, punctual civil servants, and the strategic utilization of available resources to provide inclusive infrastructure development.

Kalu further noted that the Otti administration would be introducing the Abia State Orientation Agency, aiming to enhance interaction between citizens and the government, which is crucial for realizing the government’s efforts towards reconstruction.

As a part of Otti’s initiatives to forge a new and improved Abia, the event’s theme, ‘Abia: Hitting the reset button,’ was carefully chosen to underscore the necessity of reevaluating values within the state.

Kalu clarified that the festivities would span a week and incorporate various activities, including the distribution of essential resources to the underprivileged, Jumat prayers, an interdenominational church service, a novelty football match, a special sanitation drive, and a free medical outreach, among other events.
